GPM has successfully used Glencore Technology's atmospheric leaching process to increase overall recovery from sulphide concentrates in their Ararat plant from 20% to over 95%, defying expectaƟons and targets. GPM are now evaluaƟng a second line of Albion Process. The new agreement combines GPM's experƟse in Albion Process operaƟon and their knowledge of the Russian refractory gold market with Glencore Technology's experƟse in processing technology. The Albion Process plant at Ararat, which is now operaƟng above design throughput and recovery levels, was fully supplied by Glencore Technology and installed, commissioned and ramped up in partnership with GPM Gold. While Glencore Technology has three cerƟfied Albion Process tesƟng faciliƟes – Core Resources, TOMS Minerals in Irkutsk and XPS/Kingston Process Metallurgy – this new agreement creates an enƟrely new collaboraƟon. The agreement means the GPM plant can now be used as a training facility for what is recognised as a proven combinaƟon of ultrafine grinding and oxidaƟve leaching. And it means Albion Process clients can gain a faster ramp-up through beƩer technology transfer. In 2016, Glencore Technology along with project partner Core Resources was presented with the inaugural 2016 METS Ignited CollaboraƟon Award at the IMARC Gala Dinner in Melbourne. "Companies mining gold are looking for efficient processes to treat lower grades and more complex refractory ore. The Albion ProcessTM plant turns this challenge into a significant opportunity," said METS Ignited CEO Ric Gros. "This collaboraƟon project between Core Resources and Glencore Technology demonstrates the value of METS and miners working together to commercialise innovaƟve soluƟons for industry. "The Albion Process could bring about industry-wide benefits. There is potenƟal for a step change in gold processing, including improved environmental outcomes that enhance a mining company's social licence to operate."
