Depending on the model, Vermeer Terrain Leveler machines can cut an area up to 3.7 metres wide and up to 81.2cm deep in a single pass. The Vermeer Terrain Levelers provide consistent material thereby reducing the need for primary crushers, large loaders, large haul trucks and the associated permits to transport mate- rial to crushers. Additionally, the drum is an attachment which can be switched out with relative ease. Vermeer reaches customers in more than 60 nations. Cus- tomers are served by more than 3000 team members of Ver- meer and its affliated companies in seven manufacturing fa- cilities in Pella, Iowa and satellite manufacturing facilities in Freeman, South Dakota and Beijing, China. Support offces include Vermeer Europe, Middle East, Africa and CIS; Vermeer Asia Pacifc; Vermeer China Sales and Support; and Vermeer Latin America (VLA), as well as several subsidiaries in North America and Europe. A family company For more than six decades, Vermeer has been making an im- pact by providing agricultural and industrial equipment that is built tough, built to perform, built for value and backed by caring customer service. The impact goes far beyond the high-quality of the distinctive yellow iron - today, Vermeer is an industrial and agricultural equipment company helping make a real im- pact in a progressing world. The company's story begins with the Vermeer family. In 1948, Vermeer was founded by Gary Vermeer in Pella, Iowa. Gary has left a lasting legacy and with the support of his family helped grow Vermeer into the global business it is today. His philosophy for success was simple: Find a need. Fill that need with a product built to last. And simply build the best! Today, Gary's legacy is carried on by Mary (Vermeer) Andrin- ga, currently serving as chair of the Board, and Robert L (Bob) Vermeer, chairman emeritus. In 2005, a third generation of the family started to join the company when Jason Andringa joined as an environmental segment manager. In November 2015, Jason became the frst of the third generation to lead the family company as presi- dent and CEO. Allison Vermeer Van Wyngarden joined in 2007 as industrial dealership distribution manager and the following year Mindi Andringa Vanden Bosch was named continuous im- provement corporate manager. Surface excavation Vermeer developed top-down cutting which allows the cutter teeth to gain penetration without using the machine's tractive effort to drive the teeth into the material. As the machine travels forward and the drum rotates, the teeth on the drum are posi- tioned over the material surface. As contact is made, the teeth instantly cut the material into a consistent sized product. The product size can be reduced by increasing the depth of cut. Even the biggest jobs begin to look smaller with the help of the Vermeer T1655 Terrain Leveler SEM - the largest in the range. It's a 185.9 tonne, 894.8 kilowatt machine that makes light work of challenging excavation projects. The T1655 fea- tures two Cat C18 ACERT engines for a total of 894.8 kilowatts. This confguration provides power to a common pump drive so that each engine provides full power to the machine. The large 3028.3 litre fuel tank provides 13.2 hours of continuous opera- tion at maximum horsepower. A feature contributing to ease of operation is the TEC Plus operating system, which allows the T1655 to communicate with the various control modules throughout the machine. The load control feature allows the machine to automatically adjust ground speed to use full engine horsepower. This automatically provides the optimum ground drive speed, resulting in maxi- mum productivity in varying conditions. An air-ride suspension system provides a smooth, quiet ride for the operator in the typically harsh surface mining environ- ment. The enclosed cab features a fltered air system, dual self-contained cooling and heating systems, sound attenuating foam, as well as dual air-ride suspension seats for optimum operator and trainer comfort. Productivity centres on the direct drive drum with the drive motors mounted directly to the cutter drum. This improves cutter drum effciency and reduces wear costs. A patented tilt feature allows the drum to tilt 5 degrees in either direction for cutting to grade and producing a smooth foor. The cutter drum is at the rear of the machine which allows the drum to cut the material while the tracks are on uncut ground. Replacing a tooth can be completed in minutes. The T1655 is equipped with an optional wireless remote attachment con- trol which allows the operator, while standing on the ground, to start/stop the engine; raise/lower the attachment; and rotate the attachment to inspect or replace cutter teeth and pockets. The Vermeer T1655 Terrain Leveler is ideal for surface mining applications. Vermeer surface mining solutions The Vermeer T1655 Terrain Leveler SEM is the largest in the company's range.
