In its annual flagship publicaঞon, Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2018, the Asian Development Bank expects the Indonesian economy to grown 5.3 per cent in 2018 and 2019 as investment accelerates and household consumpঞons improves. On the back of this economic growth, the Indonesia government is invesঞng heavily in infrastructure projects such as building new roads and widening exisঞng roads for beer access. In North Jakarta, contractor PT Widya Sapta Contractor is relying on Volvo's P6820C to widen the road access on an industrial estate. "We needed to complete the road widening in one week, so we wanted the best and most reliable equipment available," said Binsar Simanjuntak, equipment manager at PT Widya Sapta Contractor. "The P6820C has strong horsepower and is a high-tech automaঞc machine with precise sensors that was able to conঞnuously pave while providing good compacঞon results." In early May, the P6820C worked five to 10 hours daily to complete a 1 km access road in Cakung, a subdistrict of North Jakarta, Indonesia. The road- widening project will allow the road to accommodate 40-tonne vehicles. The new Volvo P6820C tracked paver offers paving widths of 2.5 m to 10 m and is powered by a 142 kW, Tier-3 compliant engine to offer an average paving output of 700 tonnes per hour. Equipped with a smart power mode, the P6820C paver offers up to 30% in fuel savings compared with its predecessor. Volvo Variomaঞc screeds provide customers with hydraulically- extending widths and the paver can also be configured with manual screeds. Beyond widening roads, the P6820C paver is also an excellent choice for projects such as municipal and main roads, highways and waste storage zones. The paver can also handle diverse materials without issue, from wearing course and binder course, to base course and frost protecঞon layer The Volvo P6820C paver moving Indonesia forward Volvo P6820C paver completes Indonesian road project in just one week Tyres can be criঞcal to the success of mining, construcঞon, quarry and port operaঞons, and they can represent a significant investment for businesses in those sectors. To help opঞmise the performance of tyres for these industries, The Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Company has launched a significantly enhanced version of its EMTrack OTR tyre monitoring system, which is available to Goodyear customers worldwide. "The completely updated Goodyear EMTrack tyre performance monitoring system will enable faster, even more accurate collecঞon of criঞcal tyre data like tread depth, inflaঞon levels and other indicators," said Eric Matson, global field engineering manager, Goodyear. "The enhanced EMTrack system also offers convenient, cloud-based data storage and more robust reporঞng capabiliঞes thanks to the addiঞon of the newly introduced Goodyear EMTrack App," he said. "This will give mining, construcঞon, quarry and port operators an enhanced plaorm so they can make even more informed decisions about their valuable tyre assets." The Goodyear EMTrack system works by iniঞally engaging trained Goodyear tyre technicians to perform fleet surveys, using a special Goodyear EMTrack scanning tool to capture tyre inflaঞon, tread depth and other criঞcal measurements. This data is then automaঞcally uploaded via Bluetooth to a cloud-based plaorm for password-protected storage and easy access. End users download the data into easy-to-read, customisable reports that show tyre performance. "Through the Goodyear EMTrack App, a user can view collected tyre data and reports simultaneously and in real ঞme, regardless of their geographic locaঞon, for complete visibility," said Mr Matson. End users can view performance data for their tyres across their operaঞon and even zero in on specific tyres, calculaঞng cost-per-hour, cost-per-tonne and other key metrics. "Among other benefits, this will help end users idenঞfy, if applicable, maintenance opportuniঞes to help ensure opঞmal tyre performance," he said. "And the informaঞon collected through Goodyear EMTrack can also help in forecasঞng future tyre requirements.
