Apart from the exhibition visitors will have access to leading in- dustry minds via the free-to-attend conference program, featuring keynote presentations, case studies and white paper discussions on key themes: • Economic and political outlook for mining; • Technology and innovation and what this means for businesses; • Automation and digital advancements to improve operational efficiency and maintenance; • Advancements in drilling and blasting, processing and bulk ma- terials handling; • Fleet performance and tyre management; and • Occupational health and safety. NSW Mining chief executive Stephen Galilee, General Electric strategic account development manager Ian Larsen and Mining3 chief executive Professor Paul Lever have been confirmed as 2017 speakers, with the full conference program to be revealed in coming weeks. Key to its development has been organisers' close consultation with the mining industry, spearheaded by the recently appointed AIMEX non-executive chairman David Moult, who brings years of coal mining experience to the role, including as managing director and CEO of Centennial Coal. "The ability to connect face-to-face is still so vital to business de- velopment and events like AIMEX enable you to do this in a time efficient manner. Being able to connect and interact with companies and their products is invaluable," said David Moult. AIMEX will also feature 'The Breakthrough' - a new platform show- casing emerging technologies that have the ability to provide signif- icant benefit to the mining sector. This new-to-market technology has only been released in the last 18 months and this feature will see these technologies launch on mass to the sector. AIMEX event director Brandon Ward said AIMEX was the leading event for the mining sector, with its scale offering an unparalleled opportunity for the industry to upskill, network and generate new business leads and opportunities. "No other event in the region has the same offering for visitors to network, collaborate and learn from one another, interact with over 300 exhibitors and discover some of the latest products from lead- ing suppliers," he said. "The free to attend conference, The Future of Mining, offered as part of the exhibition has been shaped by leading industry minds. This program features leading opinions on how people will work in the future, advances in new technologies and process improve- ments as well as taking a deeper focus on where the sector is heading." DELEGATES from companies involved in coal, minerals, mining equip- ment and service companies joined with representatives from govern- ment and industry bodies for the fourth annual Sumatra Miner confer- ence and exhibition in late March at Palembang, South Sumatra. The theme of the conference organised by Mining Media Interna- tional (MMI), publishers of The ASIA Miner, was the changing face of mining in Sumatra and presenters spoke in depth about coal in the region, as well as infrastructure and other mining activities. It was part of MMI's Regional Technical Conference (RTC) series. The two-day event included representatives from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the Investment Coordinating Board. It was sponsored by Coal Augering Services, PT Agincourt Resources and SSAB, and was attended by more than 100. A Coal Club Indone- sia networking function was held in conjunction with the event. Speakers included Agincourt's president director Tim Duffy who spoke about the company's project in Sumatra as well as the min- ing potential of the region. Mineral and Coal Development Program director at the Ministry, Sri Raharjo, emphasised the importance of environmental sustainability in mining operations. Other speakers addressed issues such as government mining policy, new investment regulations, mineral exploration, developing the region's coal potential, mine designs, Sumatra logistics, and provision of mine mouth power stations. Mineral Processing 2017 Another event in MMI's RTC series will be Mineral Processing 2017 on August 9 and 10 at the Westin Hotel in Jakarta. A similar event was held in 2016 and MMI was encouraged by the level of sup- port as well as the expertise offered by the various speakers. RTC Mineral Processing 2017 will enable participants to learn about mineral processing technologies and services aimed at improving mining operations. With a two-day conference and an industry dinner, the 2017 event will bring together government, decision makers, equipment & tech- nology providers to facilitate an interactive learning and business opportunities. Conference organisers are seeking presenters who can con- tribute to the development and growth of mineral processing in Indonesia. They welcome presentation submissions for the event along with sponsorship proposals. Papers in the following categories are encouraged: Case stud- ies of current processing operations in Indonesia; new and inno- vative processing technologies; financing strategies for mineral processing; equipment financing; investing in processing infra- structure; feeders, crushers and ball mills; separators, densifiers and driers; dewatering, combustion and maintenance; training, equipment and service opportunities in mineral processing; smelting, including building, energy required, air quality, environ- mental effects, water and water quality, transporting and uses.
